Our Program teaches students about 2 food sources at once! How?

Our Food Bowl Connection Program is a project-based resource. It follows a template that is based on a 3-year research program on the Liverpool Plains Region of NSW, which is Australia's premier large-scale food producing region. Teachers can focus on this region, or their own food growing region in the program.

The design task asks students to create and present a brand and tagline for the region they are studying. This has proven to be a simple and effective undertaking because it builds a deep and lasting connection, resulting in ongoing care for food sources! The regional brands reflect that care.

In the attached video, the agriculture teacher at Clarence Valley Anglican School, Shaun Flannery, explains how he recently applied the unit to his year 8 students. He found the program easy and enjoyable. You will notice two of the logos are examples of his student's work based on produce from the Clarence Valley. They have been inspired by the Liverpool Plain's brands in the template, which relate to large scale farming of grains and cattle. Without any effort the students have learned about Australia's premier food bowl, as well as their own! There's 2 food sources under their life-long care, with awareness for food source in general!
